TORRID AFFAIR by Callie Anderson #5StarReview #Giveaway #Romance #Contemporary @givemebooksblog @AuthorCallieA

Torrid Affair
Author: Callie Anderson
Genre: Contemporary Romance
 Release Date: September 13, 2016

I’m fucked.

The life I have lived for the past ten years is built solely on lies and secrets.

But I can’t help myself.

I’m in love with two different men. And one of them is my brother-in-law.

He’s my drug. My fire. My addiction.

But he’s married to my best friend. And I’m married to my husband.

I’m not ashamed. I have no guilt.

I’m not fucked. I’m a fucked up person.

This is the story of how I ruined my life.

My Review:

Before we get going here, I want to make sure that everyone knows that this book deals with CHEATING (thus the name of the book, Torrid Affair, right?).  I know some people have had way more experience with this than they ever wanted to so this topic may be a trigger for them and this book should be avoided.  However, if you are good to go, knowing that then let me tell you about it and how it made me feel reading it.

As my thirteen year old is fond of saying, “Ma feee-lins, ma feee-lins!”. As I read Torrid Affair, Callie managed to write it so expertly that she pulled each and every one of those very feelings out as I went right along with Nate and Brie they went back and forth through their past and right on up to the present day.  Their lives and relationship was complex and there is no other word she could have used but Torrid. They rose up and down, backwards and forward, in a corkscrew and in the dark and upside down on a huge emotional roller coaster.  Needless to say, sometimes you were left feeling nauseous or afraid and other times you were on an indescribable high.  The most amazing thing was that while I was walking along with Nate and Brie following their highs and lows I felt like Cassie was right there with me.  When something occurred that just tore my heart out, Cassie kindly helped put it back together.  It was an amazing feeling, one that is so difficult to describe.

This is my first book that I have read from Carrie Anderson but it most certainly will not be the last.  I love books filled with all sorts of angst and she did the best job of any of the many books I have ever seen.  Unless you don’t have a heart, make sure there are Kleenex handy and allow time to get over a huge book hangover…I know I certainly needed it! Lol  As usual, I won’t tell you how the book ends but suffice it to say that I was good with the ending.

As for how I grade this book, I give Torrid Affair and especially Callie herself something like 13 stars…one of every year of the afore mentioned 13 year old’s life.  Yes, it was THAT good.
